What kind of
history
do we have?
As you can imagine, with more than a century of success behind us there have been plenty of high points. Here are just a few of them:
1883
– G.A. Krause establishes the business that will become Wolverine.
1914
– The Wolverine brand name is used for the horsehide leather ‘1000 Mile Shoes’.
1919
– We begin a US wide advertising campaign and set up one of the first national sales forces.
1958
– A new range of shoes made from pigskin suede is launched. We call them Hush Puppies.
1963
– Sales of Hush Puppies go through the roof. It’s estimated that an incredible one in ten American adults now owns a pair.
1992
– We invent DuraShocks – the first true comfort system for workboots. It’s a revolution.
1994
– We introduce the world to Cat Footwear.
1997
– We purchase the Merrell brand.
1998
– We sign a licensing deal with Harley-Davidson to produce our own range of bold, edgy, sexy footwear.
2003
– We purchase Sebago, a major name in marine footwear.
2005
– Our sales top $1billion for the first time.
2006
– We acquire the global license to design and market Patagonia footwear.
2007
– We launch our Merrell and Wolverine apparel lines.
2007
– We win our first ever Polartec APEX Design Award for our revolutionary seamless Pioneer jacket.
2008
– We relocate our European operations to prestigious new offices in London.
